You never actually think an encounter with someone will also be your last. After meeting the lovely Alan Thicke for the first time, it never occurred to me that he’d unexpectedly leave the earth just a few short months later. In light of the actor’s death, I not only feel like I was just speaking with him a minute ago, but that I would again one day. And although our talk was only a few minutes, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

In our brief time together, I revealed a relationship problem I was having and he was all ears.
Genuine exchanges like this on the red carpet are few and far between. It was a great moment.
I revealed to Alan that I had been caught in a horrible affair, so wanted the actor’s input, as he’d been married to Tanya Callau for over 10 years. I asked: Can men be monogamous? He just had that kind face, and I knew I’d want his answer. “The important thing is to just get the rules straight between you and your partner,” he said.

“Monogamy is difficult, some people make compromises and deals with each other and that’s OK too, as long as there are no surprises,” Alan added. He heard me out and it totally shows in his thoughtful, nonjudgmental response. Even looking back makes me feel comforted, like he’s the soothing grandpa everyone could count on to make them feel better.
You’ll be missed, my friend, and thanks for the one-of-a-kind advice.
