ICMYI, here’s a live-action shot of our current dating environment:
And a self portrait of most of us in it, actively trying to not completely lose our shit:
I know you know it’s horrifying and I wish I could give you some words of encouragement, but my soul has mostly rotted on the inside at this point. Luckily, there are a select few out here like modern-day Jesus, spreading the hope. Tia Mowry, who’s been with her man for years (and married for about eight), is one of them. Trust when I say, they’re so damn in love. I know, you’re probably sitting there like, “What is this mythical ‘love’ you speak of?….”
And although you may feel jaded from shitty exes, cheating, affairs, degrading dating app messages, and/or terrible sex (did I miss anything?), the best has yet to come for you, if you allow it.
Tia preaches the power of knowing your self worth, and I agree AF.
Here’s what she says:
“Nobody deserves somebody not being really honest. I do think that really great men exist. I don’t want you to settle or lower your standards for anybody. Hold on to it. Just believe there is a guy out there for you.”
This sermon of sorts goes for everyone. Regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation. Know your damn worth and you’ll only get the best. And if you shade your ex along the way, so be it.
I’ll just be over here now like…
