Last year this story was published called, “20 Years Later & Your Favorite ’90s Teen Flick Feels So Wrong.” Oy.
We all know the political correct climate has gotten out of control (or do we?) and it’s especially impactful on entertainment. Sensitivity is at an all time high, and it’s really noticeable when you revisit classic films. (I’m talking ’90s and 2000’s.) Of course, there’s been progress in our awareness but has it gone too far, with no nearly EVERYTHING deemed as unacceptable or inappropriate?
Take She’s All That, for example. A harmless teen rom-com hailing from ’99. So many parts of the movie would cause outrage today (as explained in video above, and, case in point, the aforementioned article). The list goes on: American Pie, Drive Me Crazy, Can’t Hardly Wait, etc. etc. Here’s a brief interview with She’s All That‘s star Rachael Leigh Cook to get her take on it from T.J. Martell Foundation‘s 10th annual LA Family Day at The Grove in LA.
