Talk To Me Taylor

Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?

in Relationships on 06/20/17

If one more guy is reluctant to open the door for me because he doesn’t want to overstep my place in society as a woman, I might just lose it. Don’t get me wrong, the progress women have made to stand their ground and hold their own is badass. But with all the change women have created for themselves, it also feels like men have lost themselves along the way.

In a PC world, I would say women can act as manly as they want and men can act as feminine as they want–which is true.

But I’m not so PC. And chivalry still feels good.

Call me old-school, but some gender roles (that now feel antiquated) are still endearing and desired for women like me. They allow men to feel like men and women to feel like women. What’s wrong with that?

I’m an independent woman, but there’s nothing wrong with desiring a good, old-fashion MAN. Someone who respects me but can also take care of me–who wants to be taken care of too but doesn’t bitch if he’s not getting enough attention. The guy who’s willing to fix the toilet without worrying about breaking a nail or will listen to things I’m dealing with without the urge to constantly out talk me.

It also feels like a lot of guys are navigating interactions with women with their tails between their legs. I know this because I not only experience it, but few have even told me. Men are afraid to make women feel inadequate and get rejected in the process. But they’re so afraid, they’re becoming, for lack of a better word, a bunch of pussies.

So, I’ll ask:

Cowboys, where have you gone?

The Clint Eastwoods, the manly men, the confident guys who aren’t afraid of rejection or to get their hands dirty often seem like an unrealistic fantasy. The ones who can hold their own and proudly support their women without feeling inferior.

Do I have to go in a time warp for this shit? Is this just an LA thing? Alas, the one who was ahead of her time:

cowboys

For real.
