This is most certainly not the popular opinion but here we go: We need to quit it with the whole “female empowerment” thing, especially when it comes to business. Before you roll your eyes, hear me out, because this is coming from one hardcore and proud entrepreneur. I feel like constantly separating ourselves as women — from rallies, to conventions, and media organizations — isn’t really helping us. THROW US IN THERE with the men and let us prove we’re better: that’s equality if you ask me. And if you don’t take it from me, hear what LUS Brands CEO and founder Sahar Saidi has to say.
We spoke, ironically, at a recent female convention in Los Angeles, where she candidly talked about the blowback she gets from fellow women when she expresses frustration from being labelled a “female” entrepreneur. Ladies, let’s compete, walk the walk, and stop pulling out the victim card.
