Former Disney babe Brenda Song may not have experience confronting an ex, but that doesn’t make her top-notch advice any less savage. I’m living for every moment of it. Let me take you back to where it all started. I’ve been using celebs as my therapists, if you will. It is LA, and since everyone and their mom sees a shrink here, it only feels fitting that I use the stars as mine. They could use a break being asked about politics and/or the next Kardashian baby. One in the same, IMO.
Anyway, I had a rough breakup. Hadn’t seen or talked to the guy in months. Then, the day came when I needed to get the rage off my chest, which is a lot for a 5’1” girl. But you’d be surprised. I felt so many intense, mixed emotions. Nervous as hell. Thriving AF. Excited. Anxious. Thus, perfect recipe for a hot mess. And where did I find myself just hours before the encounter, which would’ve been used as time to mentally prep? A noisy, chaotic red carpet.
I was not OK.
But it worked out. Charlie Puth gave me his best. And then Brenda gave me advice that could be categorized as her show name: Pure Genius. Here’s what she said:
“Do you. Look cute. Get the highest heels on and the shortest skirt.”
My anxiousness was briefly put at bay. And I loved being able to see how Brenda would act in the same scenario. Two birds, eh? But we’ve all been there. If you haven’t, I wish you the best, my friend.
Also, in case you were wondering, I gave that dude a piece of my mind and peeled TF out. Haven’t felt that on-top-of-the-world in months.
