Cancel culture, in my opinion, is a major threat to free speech and our society. Public figures are “cancelled,” with careers and lives destroyed, sometimes over a mere accusation or fabrication. This scary shift in culture is especially impacting comedy, which was always a safe haven for going there and being provocative.
I got Sabrina the Teenage Witch and comedian Caroline Rhea‘s thoughts from the International Myeloma Foundation’s 13th Annual Comedy Celebration, a fundraising gala which she performed at in honor of Everybody Loves Raymond star Peter Boyle.
Caroline calls the cancel culture “bullying” and we have a dialogue about this is an alarming turn our society is taking and how people aren’t given room to even make mistakes anymore.
