Talk To Me Taylor

Rejection’s Been the Setback That’s Changed My Whole Life

in Behind the Scenes on 03/29/18

Oh my god, being rejected is the worssssstttttt. Only in the moment, though. It sounds cliché, but being turned down, having doors slammed in my face, and being told no were the best things that could have ever happened to me. It’s taught me to prove people wrong, NOT take no for an answer, and appreciate things when they’re really good.

Rejection builds character. And I’m convinced if you’re not experiencing it, you’re doing something wrong.

I sat down with my friend Jess Carroll of The Rosé Girls to talk about it. Jess and this group of girls were rejected this season by Arie on The Bachelor. I will admit, personal and professional rejection, in my opinion, are two totally different experiences. (Sometime it’s hard not to blur the two and take professional rejection personally, though.)

I hate being vulnerable way too much to allow myself to experience personal rejection (which is why I have walls up, breakup with people before they can with me, etc. etc. — your classic cold-hearted, closed-off millennial gal). But yes, when it comes to being turned down or stomped on career-wise, I’m a gd expert.

Breaking a mold can be a bitch. And I’ve definitely pissed off some people along the way.

Cough, cough:

Pissing off that One Celebrity Was the Best Thing that Ever Happened to Me

But it’s all sooooo worth it. Comebacks and lessons make our story and build our armor and truth be told, makes me feel badass bouncing back from it. And that’s all I’ll say ’bout THAT (because, you know, emotions). Scope out the video here:

Being told no, I’ll cheers to dat.
